Well dear old Taio appears to have hit a rich vein of form and his latest offering, Dirty Picture, gives more than a nod to Messers Timberlake and Aguilera.
The resemblance between Ke$ha, who guests on Dirty Picture, and the diminutive Miss Aguilera is not to be underestimated. That’s a shame really because one then spends most of the video comparing Dirty Picture with Dirrty, Aguilera’s more notorious and frankly better attempt at dirty girl chic.
The sound and style, complete with 1980’s vocoder and sweaty intent, is understandably close to the Timberlake ‘Sexy Back’ sound. Understandably because Cruz has done some work with Timberlake in Philadelphia.
The video is a bit clichéd; dirty, club bump and grind meets flash car in desert, and the soft vocal seems strangely out of place with the salacious club hook.
However, the remixes for clubland consumption will probably have bug-eyed revellers scrambling for the dance floor, water bottle in hand, when all’s said and done.
