Review: Dirtee Disco - Dizzee Rascal

Riding his current wave of adulation Dylan Mills could probably surf into Number 10, considering our view of politicians and his enduring popularity.

How reassuring then to find he’s bang on message with the latest offering under his musical nom de plume “Dizzee Rascal”.

Dirtee Disco, timed to be released a week before a new remix of his Tongue N’ Cheek album (the Dirtee Deluxe Edition), is 70s disco hoedown meets 21st century grime.

Sampling The Staples’ 1972 classic ‘I’ll Take You There’ Mr Rascal has managed to appeal to retro loving disco freaks, clubbers, grimers and mum and dad in one fell swoop.

The bass hook will bore deep into your brain and we predict a rise in worn out iPod rewind buttons this summer.

Dizzee cannot lose at the moment and this could well be THE summer anthem as well as another landslide chart topper.

It defies you not to tap your toes and the party time lyrics will strike a chord with summer loving, party hungry youths across the country.

On top of all that he’s a nice bloke, enjoying it all and Dirtee Disco shows that in a way even Dance Wiv Me failed to do.
